Old Testament: Job 19:23-27
“Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! 24 “That with an iron stylus and lead They were engraved 9 in the rock forever! 25 “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth. 26 “Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God; 27 Whom I myself shall behold, And whom my eyes will see and not another. My heart faints within me!
Psalm 110:1-3
P: The Lord says to my Lord:
C: “Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your
feet.”
P: The Lord will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying,
C: “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
P: Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power; In holy array,
from the womb of the dawn,
C: Your youth are to You as the dew.
Epistle: First Peter 1:17-2:3
17 If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.20 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you 21 who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. 22 Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, 23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For, “All flesh is like grass, And all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, And the flower falls 10 off, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word which was preached to you. 2 Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, 2 like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
Holy Gospel: John 21:15-19
15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My lambs.” 16 Jesus said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” 17 Jesus said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because Jesus said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Jesus, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep. 18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go.” 19 Now this Jesus said, signifying by what 11 kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, Jesus said to him, “Follow Me!”
